How to come to Béarn des gaves ?

As the old adage goes, all roads lead…
to Béarn des gaves!

BY CAR

(or motorbike!)

Prefer having the freedom to go where you want, when you want ? Great idea – the Béarn is perfect touring country!

We advise taking the motorway – two of them pass nearby: the A64 (exit 8 for Navarrenx, exit 7 for Salies-de-Béarn and Sauveterre-de-Béarn) and the A63 (exit 7 or exit 9)

BY CAR-SHARING

Car-sharing allows you to share transport costs, while reducing the impact on the environment by avoiding the use of several vehicles for the same destination. It’s an economical and ecological solution!

This free, easy-to-use web application promotes the whole of the Béarn des gaves region via a geolocated interactive map. A practical tool developed by the Communauté de communes du Béarn des gaves, in partnership with the Béarn des gaves tourist office.

BY TRANSPORT ON DEMAND

Choose transport on demand (TÀD) EN ABAN!

From Orthez and Puyoô stations, to one of the 12 arrival points located in the 6 main destination centres: Carresse-Cassaber, Navarrenx, Rivehaute, Salies-de-Béarn, Sauveterre-de-Béarn and Susmiou.

Tuesday to Saturday (excluding public holidays), 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm.
€2.30 for a single trip.

  1. Call the Cristal number 0 970 870 870 from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm (excluding public holidays).
  2. Book a one-way or return journey by 5pm the day before your journey at the latest.
  3. The Communauté de communes du Béarn des gaves will send a vehicle to pick you up from Tuesday to Saturday, at the place, date and time agreed by telephone with the booking centre, and drop you off at your chosen destination.
  4. Pay for your trip to the driver, by credit card or in cash, when you get on.
  5. Travel with complete serenity.

BY TRAIN

Dislike driving long distances, prefer to relax on the way, or want to reduce your carbon footprint? Whatever your reasons, coming to Béarn des gaves by train is perfectly feasible. And, while it might require a little more organisation than driving, you’ll discover Béarn des gaves differently and in a more leisurely way. Be aware that there isn’t a lot of public transport here; however, car-sharing, taxis, electric bikes (from Salies-de-Béarn) and weekly excursions are all options for exploring the Béarnaise countryside.

For arriving and leaving, there’s a bus service linking the nearest train stations with Salies-de-Béarn (Casino bus stop) and Sauveterre-de-Béarn (Place Royale). For Navarrenx, you’ll need to take a taxi or car share.

Two stations serve Béarn des gaves :

  • Orthez (15 km)
  • Puyoô (8 km)

These two stations are served by a coach that will take you to Salies-de-Béarn (Casino stop) and Sauveterre-de-Béarn (Place Royale stop), line 523.

This coach service only costs €2.50 per trip, so it’s a real bonus. Please note that it only runs from Monday to Saturday. Before you leave, check the timetable for the connection between your train and these coaches. Find out all the prices.
